For over 35 years, Northern Californian company SPI has cultivated a reputation for their unique brand of nature-inspired sculptures, furniture, and home accents. The renowned company's team of artisans take ownership of each creation throughout the whole creative process- from the sketching phase to the production of SPI's signature three-dimensional art pieces.
Known for their exquisite attention to detail as well as unique production processes, the artisans at SPI craft breathtaking brass sculptures using two different traditional techniques. The first time-consuming technique, called Sand Casting, involves creating a mold from compacted sand. The other time-honored process, dubbed Lost Wax Casting, involves creating a wax model around which a ceramic mold is shaped. Both techniques allow the artist to faithfully reproduce pieces in fine detail. Each piece is then finished with a two-layer process known as hot patina, which evokes the rich, multi-layered hues characteristic of SPI art.
In addition to intricate, delicately crafted sculptural pieces, SPI also manufactures a broad selection of sophisticated decor pieces including tables, lamps, door knockers, and fireplace screens.
